PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING
Stormwater Management & Flood Risk Assessments
We specialise in the design of stormwater management solutions. We undertake a thorough process following best practice local and international guidelines, utilising highly accurate design software and design for environmental impacts such as climate change to mitigate the risk of flooding to people and property during major storm events. We design a combination of natural and engineered solutions to best mitigate these risks from rainwater tanks to large scale wetlands. We adopt a range of specialist design software including HEC-HMS, EPASWMM, DRAINS, HY-8, HEC-RAS and others in our design process to achieve a balance of accuracy and inbuilt safeguards.
Underground services & Utilities Design
Design of public services is typically required for preliminary Resource Consent design and detailed designed during Engineering Plan Approval (EPA) in Auckland. With over 30,000 m of public stormwater and public wastewater pipeline designed for our cities we have proudly mastered this aspect of our craft. We utilise a range of design software to prepare the design of reticulation pipelines which are sized for capacity, designed for specific materials and installation methods such as open trench excavation, horizontal directional drilling and pipe jacking. We coordinate our design with other utilities such as water supply, gas, telecom and power services through a range of investigation methods which include desktop reviews of service records, service locations, CCTV and topographic survey.
Road & Earthworks design
We create highly accurate 3D models of road designs and building platforms to establish the civil environment for your project. Our process typically involves vehicle manoeuvring assessments, design of car park layouts and design of vertical gradients. These models are then utilised to calculate cut and fill excavation volumes for quantity estimates and excavation areas for the design of erosion and sediment control plans to achieve environmental and planning compliance.

Planning & Consents
We have years of Professional Planning experience and technical know-how in the preparation and processing of planning approvals under district and regional plans. This includes residential, commercial and industrial developments, as well as involvement in some of New Zealand’s largest infrastructure projects.
Construction Monitoring
& Project Management
Our Chartered Engineers provide construction monitoring services to suit the project complexities and size. We remain highly involved during the construction phase, monitoring the constructor’s programme, quality, environmental and health and safety compliance from start to completion.
As part of our overall service we provide project management services, design management services, coordination of architects and consultants, undertake reviews and can assist you in preparing the necessary tender documentation including drawings, specifications and schedule of quantities.
PROFESSIONAL PLANNING
Resource Consent
We specialise in the preparation and processing of resource consents and have experience working on all scales of development, ranging from land use consents for smaller boutique projects through to large scale, multi-stage subdivisions and commercial and industrial complexes. We have extensive experience working with regional consents, including discharges (air, land and water), bulk/long-term earthworks, contaminated soils and hazardous materials. Applying detailed understanding of the planning framework with extensive project experience, we have the skill-set required to efficiently and effectively navigate the resource consent process for any scale of project.
Planning Appraisals
The planning process can be complex and confusing at the best of times. Therefore understanding the potential planning opportunities and constraints for a site as early as possible can make or break a project. We provide Preliminary Planning Appraisals to outline the planning feasibility of a project, identifying factors such as potential yield estimates, key constraints and opportunities, and potential development scenarios to ensure that clients are making informed decisions right from the get-go.
Designations
With extensive experience working with some of New Zealand’s most complex designations, we have the skill-set and technical understanding necessary to tackle anything designation related. This includes preparation and processing of Notices of Requirement, Outline Plans and Outline Plan waivers, and working through the s176 approval process. Our project experience together with practical mindset enables us to pull together the often complex pieces of the puzzle and apply a ‘best for project’ decision-making rationale to the planning process.
Policy and Analysis
We have a wealth of experience working with a broad range of district, regional and unitary plans and have a track record of successfully preparing and presenting submissions on plan changes and reviews. We have worked with large developers in the creation of masterplans, structure plans and plan changes for greenfield growth areas and also prepared and presented technical guidance, both to Councils and Consultants, on a range of planning matters including updates to National Policy Statements and National Environmental Standards.
Consultation and Engagement
Often it is beneficial (and sometimes necessary) to consult third parties during the life of a project. We have a wealth of experience in the art of consultation and engagement having led community consultation for major projects, negotiated affected parties approvals, and held key iwi liaison roles in various organisations. We specialise in communicating complex ideas in layman’s terms and sifting through the ‘noise’ to ensure that key messages are communicated.
